This is a good example of a 1940s utility chair, produced in a climate of post war austerity. The oak fame has been completely restored and has a super little reclining mechanism. A lovely wax finish has been applied, bringing out the grain of the oak. A broken spring unit has been replaced with new webbing and hand-lashed springs. New fire retardant fillings have been added, with a top cover in a cotton linen striped weave, giving the recliner the feel of a seaside deck chair.
